We are delighted to announce that the eWATERtap has just won the Tech4Good Young Pioneers Award 2016 and was a close runner up for the overall 2016 People’s Award .
Now in their 6th year, the AbilityNet Tech4Good Awards recognise organisations and individuals who use digital technology to improve the lives of others. They are the only awards to highlight the wealth of charities, businesses and volunteers across the UK that harness the power of technology to benefit the community. The awards celebrate the hard work that these people put into making the world a better place. It’s fantastic news that out of over 200 entries the eWATERtap was judged to really make a difference to peoples’ lives whilst harnessing innovative technology.
The awards were created by AbilityNet with the help of BT and a number of businesses, charities and non-profit partners and sponsors, to share knowledge about companies that are utilising the empowering influence of digital technology – whether it’s at home, at work, in education. Access to the digital world can be life changing.
Liz Williams, General Manager of Sustainable Business at BT said a few words on why she believes technology has the power to transform communities.
“It’s about the individuals, it’s about young people, it’s about old people, it’s about people who are in need or people who are socially excluded. Technology is the thing that really can make a difference transforming lives across the world.”
